A person’s speech can say even more regarding him than his clothes, so you should treat it with care and attention. More and more parasitic words and expressions are appearing in the Russian language, the use of which definitely does not make anyone look good.
These include, for example, the phrase “I apologize.” It is often used to attract the attention of the interlocutor. However, the meaning of the expression implies that the one who says it is guilty of something. Therefore, if you do not want to apologize for your behavior, then it is better to refuse it. You can replace it with a more logical “I want to clarify” or “tell me, please.”
Also, don’t use the word “uh-huh” in your vocabulary. It gives the impression that the person is not very interested in the conversation. It is better to replace it with “yes” or “of course.”
The most common parasites in speech were “as if” and “that’s the same.” It is not always easy for the speaker to express his thoughts. To gain time, many people insert them into the conversation, thereby betraying their confusion.
Words that make other people’s ears droop include “sorry,” “sorry,” or “oops.” These foreign borrowings are common among young people. It is still not worth using them, since they indicate linguistic promiscuity.
