“The ear..;” Please ? Well “L’Oreille…” will “replay” you this holiday season. With for Christmas, as a divine child, Garry Cadenat, the unforgettable interpreter of little José from “Rue Cases-Nègres”. Forty years following the theatrical release of Euzhan Palcy’s film, he returned to this significant role for us. A sincere and lucid Garry Cadenat, to listen to once more in “L’Oreille est boldie”…

The end-of-year holidays are always an opportunity to look back on the past year and The ear… don’t deviate from the rule!
It was at the start of the school year, this year: September 2023 – September 1983, forty years separate the moment The Ear is bold invites you to (re)spend with Garry Cadenat of the release of Euzhan Palcy’s film Rue Cases-Nègres.

Meeting with a man, an adult, while unconsciously, we are surprised not to have a little 10 year old boy in front of us, so much the face of the young hero of the film, with his hat bakoua screwed on the head, is imprinted in our brains and the collective unconscious!
Return with the person concerned on this unforgettable life experience, in the podcast The Ear is bold :

Little José will become big Garry

By Garry’s own admission, little José is both very far away in time and always present in one way or another. He realizes this every time he is stopped in the street. He also realizes this, surely, in his own choices. Because man always navigates around the audiovisual sector: TV, radio, animation… Always, therefore, more or less in contact with the public, who, moreover, considers himself shy and reserved!

Whether he likes it or not, Garry Cadenat, forty years later, still lives on Rue Cases-Nègres! A lot because the public didn’t let him move. Especially since he still lives in Martinique where the film was shot.
He will always remain, he says, “little José”; and even if for a time the burden was heavy, he understands it and assumes it perfectly today. Besides, didn’t he himself try to find other roles to try to make people forget the kid from Rue Cases-Nègres?

Following this adventure and the incredible success of Rue Cases-Nègres, following his studies, Garry Cadenat will try to continue the momentum and momentum that the film gave him. Schools and theater classes will do nothing: at the time, there were too few roles for a young black actor. Which doesn’t stop him from bouncing back and taking his boat and his life where he wants to take it.

No bitterness in Garry Cadenat. Perhaps a regret: that of not having, throughout these forty years, been around his former playmates more. Many have left us and few are those with whom he still has regular contact, but “it’s is life !” he concludes, philosophically.

To be continued in the podcast The Ear is boldthe frank look of a man who opens up on one of the important moments of his life, on a cultural and heritage aspect, on notoriety, illusions and joys…
