As part of the drama that shook rue Saint-Hubert in Ciney overnight from Sunday to Monday, the Namur prosecutor’s office clarified on Tuesday that the driver who had the accident was under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Namur public prosecutor’s office, the analysis would have revealed a rate of 0.8 milligrams per liter of exhaled air, that is to say a rate of approximately 1.8 grams per liter of blood.
The driver is a 57-year-old Havelangeoise. She was deprived of her liberty and presented to the investigating judge.
As a reminder, on the night of Sunday to Monday, she lost control of her vehicle. The accident damaged a gas terminal, which caused an explosion and a fire.
Two badly damaged houses were destroyed on Monday, for safety reasons. A third home was also hit.
Jacqueline Pollet, 61, died in the rubble of her home.
