the dreaded drift of the joysticks begins to appear in some units of the Valve console

The first units of Steam Deck are reaching the hands of users, but what no one expected is that the very Gabe Newell was in charge of making the deliveries in person. The valve boss has committed to the launch of the laptop and would even welcome the arrival of PC Game Pass to the digital store.

However, we are facing a format in which Valve enters for the first time creating a console and the possibility of errors appearing flies over Steam Deck. Now, as several Reddit users show, the dreaded drift has made an appearance on the joysticks of their units.

As you can see, these users’ Steam Decks are not calibrated correctly, resulting in movements on the screen when the joystick is not being used. Really uncomfortable if we are playing and can easily annoy the game. A few months ago, Valve already commented that they had made tests of all kinds on Steam Deck precisely to avoid problems such as drift.

Among the options to solve it, we find user comments suggesting going to the settings menu to properly calibrate the laptop. However, its access seems to be more complicated than normal and everything indicates that it is necessary to go to Steam Big Picture mode to get to calibration.

In any case, if there is a joystick dead zone or other problem, the Steam Deck support is another way to fix failure. Meanwhile, Valve has shown all the prototypes you have created until they found the final model of the console they wanted.
