I have known Nora Drakou, for many years when a young NOP athlete, together with her friend, former swimmer and current nutritionist Christel Vournas, took their first steps in the sport and then – somewhere back in 2008 – they granted me an interview for a monthly magazine .
I did not expect the repeated great successes for her to form my opinion that in addition to being an excellent athlete – I am not saying this, but her statistics that have ranked her as a top paternal swimmer and sports phenomenon – she is also an excellent character.
The first conclusion that confirms what I am saying is that despite the shine of the medals, her character has not changed, she is as friendly and cooperative with journalists as before, she did not refuse anyone to give an interview and talk regarding everything, as it should be to happen and not as other athletes do who, according to the common saying, “ride a stick” with a success.
The other thing that made a positive impression on me is the fact that through her success she wanted to send a message to all athletes regarding the perseverance and patience she did to reach the age of 32 to celebrate two European medals.
With posts on social media, he sent a message saying, among other things, to never give up on their dreams.
So this is the message that all of us must pass on to the new generation of athletes, that they should continue to work and not be disappointed with the first failure in life, and in sports.
A strange example is that the Panathinaikos swimmer managed to win two medals in 7the her participation in a European event, while in a few days she leaves for the 4the her participation in Olympic games.
PS During Nora Drakou’s recent interview on peloponnisos FM 104.1, she mentioned at one point the toxicity that exists around us -and it is on many levels-, and the big “weapon” for her own career, that as soon as she saw toxicity she ran to her family which is a “nest”. Well done to Nora and her parents, who know how to protect their daughter and have created “nest” conditions.
