the double punch could trick your eyes to be more convenient

For its iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, Apple would prepare a kind of software trick to hide the fact that there are two punches and use this trick to display icons and notifications.

Among the four iPhone 14s dont the presentation keynote is expected on September 7, two models would be entitled to a notch revisited at the top of their screen: the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. It’s been quite a while indeeda double punch is mentioned for these versions. It would be composed of two bubbles: a fairly classic round one and another in an oblong format, similar to a small pill.

Two punches for one space

Until now, everyone expected these two bubbles to always be clearly visible on the lit screen of the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. Gold, ; behold MacRumors comes to surprise us with new information. The specialized media was indeed contacted by an anonymous informant telling them that the two parts of the punch would actually appear in a unified way, as if there were not two holes.

Thus, as soon as the screen is turned on, the user would not see the two shapes (bubble and small pill), but just a larger punch. Finally, it would almost be a notch like the one we know from the iPhone X, but still less intrusive.

Handy for icons and notifications

That’s not all. The touch of MacRumors also claims that Apple would plan to push this trompe-l’oeil a little further by slightly and artificially widening the blackened area around the punches to be able to display elements in this area. The firm would thus like to place icons normally located in the status bar. The source even mentions the track of a black area widening downwards to form a black square to make room for certain notifications.

Moreover, another source — this time from 9to5Mac –, specifies that Apple would also take advantage of this space to position the small indicator lights there warning that the camera or the microphone of the smartphone is being used by an application. These small cookies should be considerably more visible with this technique. Currently, iOS puts them next to the notch and it’s not always highlighted well.

To go back to MacRumors, the site claims to have discovered conversations on certain Chinese social networks, supposedly coming from employees of Foxconn, an Apple subcontractor involved in the assembly of the iPhone 14. The latter would corroborate this track of the double punch appearing in such a way unified in the eyes of users. All this information, however, remains to be considered with tweezers until Apple confirms it during its September 7 keynote.
