The doctor from Olavarri who evaluated more than a thousand stories about health experiences in a pandemic

From April 19 to 22, it took place in Mar del Plata Provincial Health Council (Co.Sa.Pro) an instance – of scientific investigations – superior to the one carried out in Olavarría months ago. The olavarriense general practitioner Florence Lestrada shared with Infoeme his experience as a member of the Reports and Experience Evaluation Commission, one of all the commissions that worked on the activities of the health system in a pandemic.

Florence Lestrada She is a general practitioner and works in a health center in our city. This week within the Provincial Health Council which took place in Mar del Plata participated in the Evaluation Commission of Stories and Experience a space that led her to read 1,200 stories with stories regarding the pandemic.

In February of this year, the associate owner of the Sanitary Region IX Norma Álvarez Morello -who today also accompanies her in the role of evaluator- proposed to Dr. Lestrada to participate as a member of the evaluation board of Co.Sa.Pro and since then read “1200 jobs” on stories and experiences in health during the pandemic.

For me it was a challenge because I usually come to compete and not to evaluate”, recounted the professional who explained: “The Evaluation Commission of Experience Reports worked on the thematic axes that were related to the strategies that put into play the health teams in the pandemic and what they think for the post-pandemic”.

In this sense, he explained that “super varied” topics were addressed and maintained: Health is associated with doctors, but this commission received reports on nursing experiences, NGOs and picnic areas coordinated by health professionals”.

“At different levels it was seen intent to preserve lifebut also to tell what was happening in a scenario full of uncertainty”, he continued and added: “These stories show how impact of the pandemic on society”.

“We who we conceive health in an integral way We might see that when there is a will, help can come and end up healing from the places you least expect,” Lestrada said regarding what was exposed in the stories that he had to evaluate and maintained: “The pandemic put on the agenda how health is not just the absence of disease”.

With a passion for her work that she was able to convey throughout her story, the doctor spoke of her choice for the profession, a scenario that referred her to the social approach to medicine, an axis that she had to evaluate in the Council: “I always I liked being in contact with people, my mother is a nurse, she worked for many years in the hospital and I learned from her the vocation to serve”.
