The Steam Deck can soon be complemented by a docking station, the release of which is fast approaching. And its specifications have finally been improved.
The marketing of the Steam Deck started on February 25. The first players have already been able to experience the characteristics of the hybrid console signed Valve. This machine, which competes directly with the Nintendo Switch, will soon be able to be equipped with a docking station like its rival. It will be sold separately from the end of spring 2022. However, its price still remains a mystery.
In addition to charging, this station will give you the possibility to pair your Steam Deck with screens or to connect it with USB peripherals and a network cable. Precisely, the configuration initially announced by Valve has finally been modified. And this in the good sense of the term since performance will be increased!

Steam Deck: the station will be better supplied with connections
In this case, the manufacturer had indicated that the station would be equipped with a USB 3.1 port and two slower USB 2.0 ports. But Valve has changed its tune, specifying on the technical specifications page that three USB 3.1 ports (much more in tune with the times) will ultimately be included. This is a significant improvement: USB 3.1 offers much faster transfer speeds (up to 5 Gbit/s).
And that’s not all. Still in terms of connectivity, the Ethernet port will ultimately be a Gigabit Ethernet port. This will allow players to benefit from a much higher connection speed, Gigabit Ethernet allowing to climb up to 1 Gb / s. Moreover, the station will integrate a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0 port.
If you want to get your hands on this supercharged docking station, show a little more patience. Still, you can also opt for a compatible USB-C Hub. This will also allow you to play on external displays with your Steam Deck while enjoying a wired internet connection.
