The DNU and the omnibus law collapse the positive image of Javier Milei: it falls 1% daily

The last survey of the year marks an abrupt drop in the image of President Javier Milei a few weeks before the beginning of his government. According to the consulting firm Zurban Córdoba, less than a month into his mandate, the negative image of the head of government reached 55%.

In his analysis he compares it with the fall that Alberto Fernández suffered throughout his government.which at the beginning of the pandemic reached 80%, but vanished into the air following “committing serious errors” such as the parties in Olivos and “poor economic management.”

With the calculator in hand, Martín Menem does the math for the omnibus law: “The number is there”

“Since his assumption, Javier Milei lost more than one point of positive image per day, and today he has a 55% negative image“, expresses the study on 1,500 cases nationwide with a sampling error of 2.33%.

For Zurban “it is the most accelerated loss of positive differential that we have recorded. We even dare to say that it is probably the fastest in the entire history of the region. “We have never seen such a pronounced drop in such a short time.”

Javier Milei also shows a positive image barely superior to that of his vice president, Victoria Villarruel. The libertarian has 44.1% between “very good” and “good” ratings, while the president of Congress reaches 43.9%.

Today, a few hours before the end of the year, 51.9% of those surveyed disapprove of the “lion” government and 54.3% consider that it is “going in the wrong direction.”

The reasons for the fall in Milei’s image

Along with your personal image, Zurban also detected “a collapse of practically his entire system of ideas and management measures.”

“Both the deregulatory DNU and the omnibus law presented in Congress garner significant levels of rejection. There even seems to be a majority willing to vote once morest all measures in a potential plebiscite. As of today, in La Libertad Avanza all the red warning lights should be on.”

53% of those surveyed consider that “the adjustment is not being paid by the caste” and that “the people are paying it” (52.3%).

“Milei’s government made announcements of extreme economic and institutional gravity using the same approach that was used in the elections. Serious error that generates distortions and threatens the generation of consensus,” Zurban expressed in his report.

Only 39.8% of people responded that the DNU is constitutional and should come into force. 97.8% of Sergio Massa’s voters in the runoff affirm that he should be repealed by Congress or by Justice.

A communication problem

The question of how Milei and his cabinet are communicating is something to take into account. Zurban makes a special section and asks to “highlight at least one element: the continuity of campaign communication while already in government turned out to be a fatal mix with the first measures announced.”

The key is that no government has the cow tied and that majorities are something that must be permanently strengthened. Governing by believing that the consensus that was achieved at a certain moment in time will be permanent is the first step to making serious mistakes.
