Axberg has always been a little different. This is not necessarily due to the location itself, but rather to the address “Zum Kirchdorfergut 1” – the residence of the Reisetbauer family.
Hans Reisetbauer has a passion for cuisine and biodiversity in general, but for schnapps in particular. Almost 30 years ago he started his vision and led the company to the top of the world. His distillates are now available in almost all top restaurants.

Inspired by perfection

In 2019, the noble distiller renewed the distillery with a temperature control that can be controlled to 0.05°C. “A few years ago we didn’t even dream of such systems, and today it’s hard to imagine working without them,” says Reisetbauer. Driven by Japanese perfection, he worked on how to make the business more sustainable: a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof, which, together with a heat recovery system for the distillery, enables almost energy self-sufficient work.

One third of a newly created pond is used as an extinguishing pond. The rest, i.e. 660,000 liters of water, is used to irrigate the orchards. “We collect all of our roof water for this purpose,” says Reisetbauer. Furthermore, eight existing fermentation tanks were expanded by three and are located in a hall with the most modern cleaning systems, which enable almost clinical, clean work and increase quality.

“We’ve been working in the new environment since February and I’m always looking for mistakes. I haven’t discovered any until now. that’s the best thing,” says Brenner, who has found the perfect business partner in his son Hansi. “He’s my Bua and my partner and not my right hand because he already has a hand of his own. That works great.” It probably works so well in the family group because father and son are cut from the same cloth.

Speaking of wood: old fruit trees are used as wood chips to heat the square courtyard or were used by the Lanser carpentry workshop in the chic tasting room. In the middle is a bronze table with a diameter of three meters (more was not possible), which can be moved as a standing or sitting table. A masterpiece by the Lohberger company that confirms the impression: Axberg is different.
