The dissidents of the Farc General Staff announce that they accept the bilateral ceasefire

The Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents announced, through a press release, that they will accept the bilateral ceasefire decreed by the government of Gustavo Petro on December 31, 2022.

In its communication, this structure announced that “within the framework of our commitment to a political and negotiated solution to the social and armed conflict in Colombia, (…) we reaffirm our commitment to the bilateral ceasefire and we salute the will expressed publicly by the national government”.

Likewise, the Central General Staff pointed out that the ceasefire is a gesture of “high value that must be ratified through the construction of a route that mainly involves the actors in conflict and those who we mutually consider can contribute and generate guarantees.” ,

The other dissidents who also accepted the ceasefire would be the United Guerrillas of the Pacific and the columns Alfonso Cano, Ivan Rios, Oliver Sinisterra, Ariel Aldana and Marshal Sucrewho are affiliated with the so-called Second Marquetalia, a dissident group led by Ivan Marquez.

This armed group, under the orders of “Ivan Bite”reiterated their willingness to seek a negotiated solution to the conflict and ensure that it is urgent to agree on areas of operation of the Joint Eastern Command “to establish responsibilities.”

Until now, the strongholds of this guerrilla group have held exploratory meetings with the national government in September of last year, in the Yari plainswhile the second took place in the same area of ​​Meta in November.
