The corpse of a cetacean was discovered on Tuesday in a dock in the port of Antwerp. The animal, measuring nearly 10 meters long, was found near a terminal. It represents an explosion hazard due to decomposition gases.

This Wednesday, the cetacean was examined in Antwerp. Thierry Jauniaux, doctor of veterinary medicine at the University of Liège, went there. The weight of the beast is estimated between 8 and 10 tons, explains our journalist on site Michael Menten.

Pieces of the mammal are now being cut up to study the causes of its death. “They are looking everywhere for wounds or lesions”details our journalist. “There are a dozen of them on it and you need a crane to lift the beast”he continues.
