An investigation that is entering a new phase, but which nevertheless retains a local anchor. During a press briefing held Thursday at the end of the day, the public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains affirmed that the second phase of the investigation to find Émile was open, and with it the analysis of the data collected these last days.
However, operations near Haut-Vernet will continue in the hours to come.
Disappearance of Emile: when mediums get involved in the investigation
As BFMTV learned this Friday morning from a source close to the case, around thirty people have already been heard in this case. The hearings, like all the other operations in progress, will continue this Friday, and the next two days, in the hamlet still closed to the public.
No track discarded
During the same point of situation, Rémy Avon indicated for the time being, “no thesis is privileged, no thesis is excluded.” As this same source indicates to BFMTV, several hypotheses are thus evoked: the accidental track, the criminal track with the intervention of a third party (kidnapping, accident, family track”, but also the animal track (kidnapping by a bird ).
For their part, the investigators will not really be able to rely on video surveillance devices. If the hamlet of Haut-Vernet does not have any, the cameras located on the surrounding roads are “road” cameras.

At the same time, this new part of the investigation announced by the public prosecutor, which is part of a longer period, consists in analyzing the considerable mass of data collected during these five days of investigations, and in particular the data of telephony, which must be cross-checked with the movements of local residents, and the 1,500 messages left on the dedicated call line.
For the investigators, the objective is clear, to leave no track aside. In the hamlet, the 30 houses have already been searched, the 25 inhabitants questioned, all the vehicles have been visited, and in total, 97 hectares of fields, woods or steep terrain have been raked. .
