In Saint-Hubert, in the province of Luxembourg, the communal swimming pool had been closed 2 months ago to save energy. We learn today that its director has just been fired. He would have stolen fuel oil which was used to heat it.
The swimming pool of Saint-Hubert (province of Luxembourg) is soon ready for its reopening which will take place next week. A few days before its temporary closure, we had met its director for a report at the end of 2022. He explained the decision at the time: “These are months when we consume a lot more energy. It became clear that closing now made more sense than closing in the summer or in September.”
The man has just been dismissed for breach of trust, without compensation. Using cans, he allegedly stole fuel oil from the tank that heats the pool water.
Céline Nicolas is the president of the board of directors (CA) of the association “Sports and culture”. She expresses: “It’s a shock. It is not expected to happen here, here and now; in a rather special context since there is the energy crisis.
Legal proceedings envisaged
According to our information, the director admitted the facts. At the beginning of February, a third person alerted the CA of the association which manages the communal swimming pool. “The board of directors is continuing its investigations to surround itself with objective elements in order to be able to measure the quantity and for how long the facts have taken place”explained Céline Nicolas.
After the filing of a complaint once morest X, the CA studies the follow-up to be given from a legal point of view. We tried to find out the version of the now ex-director of the swimming pool, but in vain.
