Thierry Reboul, director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the Paris Olympics, noted that “nothing is left to chance for the closing of the Olympic Games on Sunday” and promised a “wave of joy”.
The same artistic team as in the Opening Ceremony, led by artistic director Thomas Joli, is at the “helm” of this show, which is set to start at 22:00 (Greece time) at the Stade de France.
The list of expected artists remains secret, but three big names have already been leaked to the press: those of actor Tom Cruise and French electronic music legends Air and Phoenix.
“At the start, we had to set the tone. In the end, we must continue on this momentum and finish the race in the same spirit as these Olympic Games, in this wave of joy that surrounds us.
We had colossal pressure for this Opening Ceremony, there was more pessimism about how it could go. Now it’s a different kind of pressure, people are looking forward to it. But it is completely different.
The Ceremony takes place in a stadium, which is more traditional. We will have even more of the touch and signature of Thomas, everyone has put themselves at his service. The show will celebrate the values of Olympism, it is more universal,” Reboul emphasized, while speaking about the moment of the Ceremony when the Olympic flag will be given in Los Angeles to the American organizers of the 2028 Olympic Games, he said:
