What are the differences between the two Samsung Galaxy A14s? Is 5G the only addition of the 5G model? We tell you all that.
The difference between the Galaxy A14 4G and 5G is that one is 5G and the other is not? (sweat smile emoji) So yes, but no, it’s a bit more complicated. We take stock.
The screen hides a difference in size
Admittedly, in our test of the Galaxy A14 5G, we noted that the Samsung smartphone was not a thunderbolt, but its 4G counterpart is even less so. Indeed, he trades a 90 Hz panel for 60 Hz.
The other weight difference is to be found at the chip level. It’s normal, most of the time, SoCs, the chips that make smartphones work, are designed with a specific 4G or 5G modem. To cut costs, 4G models tend to opt for specialized chips in there.
This results in a significant difference between these two models. The Galaxy A14 5G incorporates a brand new Exynos 1330 chip, engraved in 5 nm, while the 4G model has an Exynos 850 in 8 nm. This also results in Bluetooth 5.2 certification on the A14 5G against 5.1 on the 4G.
Still on performance, you won’t find an A14 4G with 8GB of RAM. Only models with 4 and 6 GB of RAM are offered. The A14 5G includes an 8 GB model.
Fine details
More anecdotally, the 4G model is better equipped in photos on paper. It swaps the 2MP depth sensor of the A14 5G for a much more useful ultra-wide angle. Admittedly, the latter caps at 5 Mpx, but there is still a slight advantage.
Last point of difference to note, the back of the two phones may look alike, it does not benefit from the same treatment. The Galaxy A14 5G has a dotted, grainy effect where the A14 4G is streaky from top to bottom. Not enough to stop a choice on one or the other, but you have been warned.
Of course, let’s not forget the price. The Galaxy A14 5G is generally a little more expensive since it started at 250 euros while the A14 4G started at 219 euros. At the time of writing, they can be found at 219 and 200 euros respectively.
