The wife of a suspected serial killer has said his whole family has been hurt since he was charged with three murders.

Rex Heuermann, who has been nicknamed “the ogre of Gilgo Beach” is accused of killing three young women whose bodies were found at Gilgo Beach, Long Island.

His wife gave an interview to the “New York Post”. Asa Ellerup said her two children cry every night before going to sleep and that her daughter does not feel “human”.

“My children cry before they go to sleep,” she said. They are not children. They’re adults, but they’re my kids, and my 33-year-old son has developmental disabilities and he cried to sleep.”

“My daughter is 26 and she feels that what her father did is not human. So she feels like an animal,” she added.

Asa Ellerup, 59, wakes up at night shivering, racked with anxiety.

“My son is so distraught,” she said. He does not understand. As a mother, I have no answers for him.

Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect, was charged on July 13 with three murders committed once morest sex workers in 2010. The victims were all in their twenties.
