The tragic death of a young pediatrician from Quebec is causing a wave of shock in the region, while many parents salute his dedication and professionalism, devastated to have lost “a great doctor with a heart.”
The wave of sympathy is great for the Dr David Fecteau, died accidentally on November 4.
Barely 46 years old, the doctor was hospitalized for almost a week, in a coma, following having suffered a fall while doing exterior maintenance at his home on October 29.

On social networks, dozens of parents wanted to pay tribute to the doctor, who treated their little one with kindness and empathy, we can read.
“It’s a huge loss for a lot of people. I count myself lucky to have had him on my way. Without the slightest doubt he was a wonderful being for his people. He knew how to make the difference for us,” wrote, among others, Léa d’Amboise, the mother of a little boy followed by Dr. Fecteau.
“He was so at home with the children and very reassuring for parents worried regarding having different children…He will be irreplaceable! », wrote for her part Cynthia Boulet-Thibault.
His bereaved colleagues
The father of the family, described as a sportsman and passionate regarding his work, will leave a big void at the Propulsion clinic in Neufchâtel, where he practiced, in addition to being the director.
Joined by The newspaperthe clinic’s administrative assistant, Marie-Claude Leblond, said she was very pained and saddened by the sudden departure of a “friend and mentor”, whom she described as a man “of multiple talents”.
“David was always authentic, no matter the role he took on […] With David, there were never half measures; he was an upright, faithful, empathetic and funny man,” she said.
Solidarity
Ms. Leblond was also touched by the spirit of solidarity that has emerged from the pediatric community of Quebec, while several doctors have already raised their hands to take care of the young patients of Dr. Fecteau, now orphans.
David Fecteau was a pediatrician and sports doctor for more than 10 years, following obtaining his medical degree at Laval University. He also practiced in Trois-Rivières.
