On the 25th, the Presidential Transition Committee for President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol protested, saying, “In addition, lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea have requested the National Police Agency to submit the report of the transition committee.”
In a statement on the same day, the Office of the spokesperson for the transition committee said, “It is a signal to the relevant department or institution not to cooperate with the transition committee, starting with the business report, which is the first step in selecting the major national tasks of the new government.”
He continued, “The act of requesting the entire report of the transition committee during the transition of power can be perceived as a burden and pressure on the relevant ministries and institutions. It contains sensitive content.”
The transition committee named this as “another case following inappropriate words and actions in which Justice Minister Park Beom-gye publicly expressed his opposition to the president-elect’s major promises prior to the Ministry of Justice work report.” “There is growing concern that the successive inappropriate behavior of the Democratic Party, the current government, and the Blue House will go beyond the level of non-cooperation in the smooth transfer of power during the transition period and lead to active obstruction of the business,” he said.
The transition committee strongly objected to Minister Park’s objection to President-elect Yoon’s judicial promises, saying it was “rude and incomprehensible” and exceptionally delayed the business report. As if aimed at this, the transition committee repeatedly emphasized, “We urge the Democratic Party and some politicians to refrain from repeating the inappropriate behavior of the incumbent minister during the reporting process.”
