Claudia Collado, president of Consumer Action (Adelco), expressed the concern of prepaid medicine patients regarding the delays in granting appointments.
“We just got out of the pandemic (from coronavirus) we began to have consultations and complaints, we thought there was a bottleneck because many had stopped going to the doctor, but this continues,” Collado told chain 3.

And expanded: “People tell us that there are very few doctors, apparently, the permanent staff of professionals has been reduced; and on the other hand, it happens that when the patient goes to take an appointment, he finds that his doctor no longer attends his social work “.
“We talk to doctors and dentists and the consultation is being paid very little: between 200 and 800 pesos. So, the professional decides to treat in his private office, other doctors stay but charge a co-payment ”he explained.
In that sense, he pointed out: “We tried to communicate with the Superintendency of Health Insurance, but they say they have no claims, and as long as they have no claims they have no reason to act.”
“We are touching prepaid medicine companies that authorize increases all the time and it seems that it is not enough. For example, a couple of older adults pay between 50 and 60 thousand pesos a month”, she pointed out.
