The decomposing body of an elderly Egyptian was found being eaten by mice in his apartment

In a human tragedy in the city of Suez, eastern Egypt, the decomposing body of an elderly man was found in his apartment and was eaten by mice.

The Egyptian security services received a report from the residents of the Triangle area in the Al-Arbaeen neighborhood in the Suez Governorate, stating that an unpleasant smell emitted from an apartment in the area that was closed, and none of its owners responded.

The authorities broke down the door of the apartment to discover the decomposing body of a 65-year-old named Abdo, around which were gathering numbers of rats that ate parts of the corpse.

And it turned out that the old man, according to the report of the health inspector, died 6 days ago, and the foul smell began to emanate only regarding 3 days ago, until it increased significantly on Friday, so the residents informed the authorities.

Investigations revealed that the elderly person resides in the apartment alone following the death of his wife, while the authorities summoned a relative of his wife, who confirmed that he did not know anything regarding his death because he decided to isolate following passing through a bad psychological condition.

The Public Prosecution Office, which conducted the investigation, was notified.
