Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be charged on December 12 in the cipher case. Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the Official Secret Act Special Court heard the cipher case against Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail.
The cipher case was heard in Adiala Jail by the judge of the special court established under the Secret Act, Abu Al-Hasanat Zul-Qarnain.
Strict security arrangements were made on this occasion and media representatives were also allowed inside the jail for coverage today on the orders of the Judicial Magistrate.
The court declared that Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be charged on December 12 in the cipher case.
The court has provided the copies of the case to the former Chairman PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in the copies, the former Prime Minister and the former Foreign Minister were declared guilty in the cipher case.
The lawyers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf requested not to provide the copy of the case.
It should be noted that on October 23, a special court established under the Official Secrets Act, 1923 had indicted Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
On October 25, Imran Khan challenged the charge-sheeting process in the cipher case in the Islamabad High Court.
On November 21, the Islamabad High Court accepted Imran Khan’s intra-court appeal against the ongoing jail trial in the cipher case and declared the August 29 notification of the jail trial illegal.
Later, on November 23, Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the special court hearing the cipher case directed Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi to appear at the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) in Islamabad on November 28.
On November 28, the Adiala Jail authorities excused Imran Khan from being presented in the special court due to security concerns.
On December 1, the federal interior ministry had issued a notification for the jail trial of the cipher case against Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
On December 2, the proceedings of the cipher case against Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi resumed in Adiala Jail, but the jail authorities prevented most of the journalists from attending the open trial.
Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were present during the hearing, after which the hearing was adjourned till December 4 (today).
