Halimi and Murad ran an Instagram account called ‘Gaza Experiences’ where they answered questions from followers around the world about their lives in the Israeli-besieged territory. Foreign journalists do not have access to this area.
Halimi started her TikTok account after taking refuge with her parents, four brothers and sisters in the southern coastal region of Al-Mawasi.
Israel has declared al-Mawasi camp as a safe area on humanitarian grounds.
Halimi’s family moved to the southern city of Khan Yunis following Israel’s attack on Gaza City, after which they moved to a dusty camp to escape the bombardment.
Halimi’s 19-year-old friend, Halimi Hariz, says Halimi’s work was ‘a cause for wonder.’
