The death of the Egyptian actress, Gala Fahmy, at the age of 59, after years of occultation

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Egyptian artist, Gala Fahmy, has passed away, according to her brother, Mustafa Fahmy, in a post he published on his Facebook page on Saturday.

The late artist did not complete her sixth decade (59 years old), and her departure came following years of complete invisibility from public and artistic life in Egypt, where her last appearance was spotted by journalists’ cameras at the funeral of the late Egyptian football star Tarek Selim in 2016.

She is the daughter of the late director Ashraf Fahmy, and she has a single son from her ex-husband, the Egyptian composer Amrat Khairat. She began her artistic career at an early age, in addition to her work on radio and television, and presented the programs “Tales of Narrative and Fikri”, and “The Solution is the Rope” and was criticized because of the latter. Gala Fahmy’s early film roles include the role of the announcer in the movie “A Sweet Day and a Bitter Day” in 1988, followed by her role in the movie “Execution of a Judge” directed by her father in 1990.

The height of her cinematic activity was in the nineties of the last century, where she starred in many films, and her roles were characterized by daring, and she was even dubbed the “star of striptease”, especially following the presentation of the movie “The Night’s Words” in 1999, which sparked a lot of controversy at the time.

Among her famous films are: “Love in Taba, Tata’, Rika and Kazem Bey, Fish and 3 Sharks, Pizza Pizza, Jala Jala.” Her last movie role was in the movie “Oula You Love My Heart” in 2003.

Gala Fahmy had a few television participations, the most famous of which was when she appeared in the third parts of the series “Layali Al Helmeya” and the series “Al Wasiyah”.
