Figure of the small screen with his twin brother Igor, Grichka Bogdanoff, also an essayist and doctor in mathematics, died Tuesday, December 28 at the age of 72, his agent told AFP. “Surrounded by the love of his family and his loved ones, Grichka Bogdanoff passed away peacefully, on December 28, 2021, to join his stars”, wrote his family in a statement sent by his agent.
According to our information, Grichka Bogdanoff was hospitalized on December 15 in the intensive care unit of the Georges-Pompidou hospital, in Paris, following contracting Covid-19. On the same day, his brother Igor was also received in the same department of this establishment, for identical reasons. According to a source close to the two brothers, they were not vaccinated once morest Covid-19.
Born on August 29, 1949 in Saint-Lary (Gers), Igor and Grégoire Bogdanoff (changed to Bogdanov in their public activities), are inseparable in the minds of the French. TV hosts and producers, they imposed their futuristic style with “Temps X”, broadcast between 1979 and 1987 on TF1. The show combines science and fiction, UFOs, extraterrestrial life, and advanced technologies, sharing popular Anglo-Saxon culture with the public on all these subjects. Their physical transformation, a subject of curiosity, will subsequently nourish their aura of“Aliens”, as they called themselves.
“Very impressionist style”
In 1991, the two brothers published God and science (Grasset), dialogue with the philosopher Jean Guitton. Astrophysicist Trinh Xuan Thuan sees borrowings from his own bestseller, The Secret Melody (Fayard, 1988). They are also criticized for having made use of doctor’s titles on the cover of the book. They plead the error of the publisher’s press service. “We were in the process of registering for a thesis before the publication of the book, which may have led to confusion”, Grichka thought.
In fact, from 1991, the two brothers disappeared from the small screen to devote themselves to theoretical physics thanks to the money earned on television. “Our life was then reduced to a hypnotic fascination for a scientific question”, said Igor – that of the origin of the Universe. They will first be enrolled in Bordeaux, then at the University of Burgundy, where Professor Daniel Sternheimer inherits the task of channeling “Their very impressionistic style”.
In 1999, when the two brothers wanted to defend their theses at the Ecole Polytechnique, members of the jury suddenly became aware of the insufficiency of their work. Grichka obtains the title, requalified in mathematics, subject to substantial modifications of the manuscript. Igor, postponed, will not be able to stand until he has published results in peer-reviewed journals. Which will be done in 2002.
