The Day Before was a much-hyped zombie shooter that launched on Steam on December 7, after multiple delays.

But four days later, Fntastic, the studio behind the controversial game, suddenly announced it was shutting down because the $40 game “failed financially,” even though it apparently sold more than 200,000 copies before getting the money back, according to For PC Gamer website.

“We did everything we could, but unfortunately, we misjudged our capabilities,” added Fntastic, which has since removed all of its promising trailers from its YouTube channel.

Players who paid for the disastrous early access are understandably angry, and Steam thankfully provides a two-week period for refund requests, as long as the game has only been played for less than two hours.

Even if, for some reason, you’ve played The Day Before for more than two hours, Steam will likely still honor your refund, as an announcement from publisher Mytona suggested.

A number of comments also seem to confirm that these players were able to get their money back, despite having to battle their way through the disappointing title for over two hours.

Players who want a refund can do so by heading to Steam Help, going to “Purchased,” tap “Previous Day,” then under “What’s the issue with this product?” section, choose the reason you see fit (perhaps “gameplay or technical issue” in this case) to proceed with your refund request.
