How it all began? THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON was born out of a bet between AD INFINITUM singer Melissa Bonny and FEUERSCHWANZ guitarist Hans Platz. The loser owed the other a “favor”. Hans won and challenged Melissa to record the song “Jenny Of Oldstones” in a dark metal guise and the journey began. On their debut album Metamorphosis, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON delve into the adventures of their heroes, transforming soundtracks from world-renowned films, TV shows and video games into powerful versions of metal. THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON are not limited to covers, but also dedicate their own songs to their favorite characters – such as “The Gates of Time”. In a harmonious atmosphere, it tells the story of the time travel portals, as it is in the famous The Legend of Zelda series there.
Driven by curiosity, the band marches into the worlds of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, performing Enya’s Grammy-nominated soundtrack “May It Be” with Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain), while the mystical-tinged song “Misty Mountains” (feat. EVERGREY’s Tom S. Englund) from the Hobbit film trilogy reveals a previously unknown facet through melodic folk vocal lines and rousing guitar riffs. The million-stream streamed League of Legends theme song “Legends Never Die” comes in a stunning guise thanks to incredible vocal performances by Melissa Bonny brought back to life.
Like the raging sea, the melodies appear in energetic and sweeping waves, while others head for shore in an exciting, elegant and soulful rhythm. The multinational band explores the untouched sides of these lovingly chosen songs and turns the world-famous hits into adventures of their own that transport the listener back to unforgettable times. Just like the moon, every song has an unexplored side, which THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is now exploring.
