Al-Marsad Newspaper: Doctor Malik Al-Jamzawi warned of the dangers of sitting for long periods, because it causes the body to suffer many diseases, including atherosclerosis, diabetes, and heart efficiency.

The doctor said, in a video clip circulating on the “Tik Tok” application, that long sitting has negative effects on various organs of the body, the most important of which is that it slows blood flow within the arteries of the body, and thus the accumulation of these fats inside the arteries.

Al-Gamzawi explained that walking reduces the percentage of a hormone called (lipase), by 90%, and this hormone is responsible for breaking down and digesting fats, and thus these fats increase inside the arteries and lead to atherosclerosis.

He pointed out that sitting for long periods of time can lead to an increase in insulin resistance, which leads to diabetes, and it also increases weight.

The doctor directed the need to maintain permanent movement, even for half an hour a day of walking, in order to avoid all these risks.
