With two speeches and a special musical event, next Saturday July 13, the curtain of the events opens at the historical monastery of Gouverniotissa, located in Potamies, Municipality of Hersonissos.
The events that will be held as part of the exhibition hosted in a hall of the building complex entitled: “The history of Crete through the local press” will start at 20:30 with speeches by:
– Xenophon Pagalias, scholar of the history of the Cretan press on the subject:
“The history of the Cretan press”.
-Kostas Tsiknakis, Historian, researcher at the Institute of Historical Research
of the National Research Foundation on the topic: “Archaeological excavations in the local press”.
Immediately following, the songwriter Maria Louka, known for her resonant collaborations with Sokratis Malamas, Dionysis Savvopoulos, N.Papazoglou and Eleni Vitalis, and the well-known from the Chainides, Dimitris Zacharioudakis, will present a program based on their personal repertoire but also in artistic sounds from the contemporary music scene.
Two voices and a guitar, take us on lyrical paths, in the beautiful landscape of Panagia Gouverniotissa.

Sunday
On Sunday, July 14, there will be an honorary tribute to the journalist Nikos Kazantzakis.
In the morning at 11:00 a Trisay will be held at the tomb of Nikos Kazantzakis in Martinego and laying of wreaths.
In the evening at 20:30 in the courtyard of the Governor there will be a speech by the journalist, author Nikos Psilakis on the topic:
“Nikos Kazantzakis as a journalist”.
Immediately followingwards will follow a musical tribute to the travels of N. Kazantzakis
A musical journey through time, the world and the adventures of life.
In life, as it is presented through the songs that talk regarding other places and worlds, regarding imaginary stories that became truths, with the final destination being Crete and Captain Michalis by Nikos Kazantzakis and Manos Hadjidakis.

On Saturday, July 20, the courtyard of Gouverniotissa will host the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, which will present the work of Panagiotis Fournarakis “Cantata work No. 32” in the poetry of Antonis Sanoudakis “The horses are galloping wildly”.
