The current deputies are strong in the quota system and weak in serving the people

Representative Melhem Khalaf considered that “the thirteen Change Deputies are a model of democracy, which is represented by the plurality of opinions, consultation and research to take positions, unlike what is represented by the parties that follow the opinion of the leader.”

In an interview with “Voice of All Lebanon”, he said, “Democracy within the Lebanese Parliament is not sound, and that the political class is strong in terms of quotas, but it is the weakest in serving its people.”

He stressed, “The future government must be formed quickly and be rescue, and include ministers of high efficiency, vision and experience,” and explained that “the changers’ decision not to participate in the government results from respecting the principle of separation of powers.” He said, “We will not accept a government that reduces Parliament, and we cannot accept the repetition of this failure that has accumulated for years.”

Regarding the banking sector and depositors’ money, he said: “No one has the powers to negotiate people’s rights and trespass on their money, and harming depositors’ money is rejected because the gap that occurred is not borne by the depositor.”

He added, “We are waiting for President Najib Mikati to present the new recovery plan, and we will study it carefully after some modifications have occurred.”

In response to a question about the Beirut Port investigation, he considered that “politicians are accustomed to lack of accountability and the principle of unfairness, and this explains the obstruction of the investigation into this crime.”
