Work on the creation of the Cultural Park of the Historic Center of Warsaw is now entering a key stage. At the beginning of April, the Mazovian Voivodship Conservator of Monuments issued a positive opinion on the draft resolution creating a cultural park.

– Obtaining the opinion of the provincial conservator of monuments is not only an obligation imposed by law. The unanimous position of the conservation community regarding the protection of the valuable cultural landscape of the Historic Center is the basis for the success of the future park, said Deputy Mayor Renata Kaznowska.

The resolution on the cultural park, constituting an act of local law, will be a valuable tool not only for the local government, but also for conservation services. It will become a practical way to protect the monumental, historic area of Warsaw.

It will facilitate the issuance of conservation decisions in matters concerning e.g. location of gastronomic gardens, media or small architecture objects. The next stage is the presentation of the project for public inspection with the possibility of submitting comments (in accordance with Article 16 of the Act on the Protection and Care of Monuments). City Council of Warsaw announces the commencement of work on the creation of a cultural park and the presentation of the project by way of a resolution. The presentation of the draft resolution creating the cultural park is planned for June and will last (in accordance with the above-mentioned act) a minimum of 21 days.

– I hope that the adoption of the cultural park of the Historic Center of Warsaw will take place on July 6, i.e. at the last pre-holiday session of the City Council – adds Renata Kaznowska.

The Historical Center of Warsaw cultural park is to cover the Old and New Towns, the Royal Route, the area from the Krasiński Gardens to the Saski Gardens and the parks located below the Escarpment, including Łazienki Park.
