The cry of the alderman of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve Abdel Ben El Mostapha: “A refugee equals a refugee”

Alderman for Human Rights welcomes outpouring of solidarity with Ukrainian refugees. “But I would also like to shout this: a refugee equals a refugee.”

By making Marina Ovsyannikova an honorary citizen of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, this Russian journalist who had brandished, in the middle of the television news, a sign denouncing the war waged by her country in Ukraine, the elected officials of Ottignies-Louvain -la-Neuve have made a strong gesture (our edition of March 31).

During the last municipal council, there was also talk of welcoming Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war. In the preamble, the president of the CPAS, Marie-Pierre Lambert-Lewalle (Avenir), thanked “all the citizens of our city for their outpouring of generosityto welcome them.
