Introduced a year ago, the electric coupe crossover Volvo C40 so far it has been offered in a single version with twin-engine all-wheel drive (408 hp). And only now the second modification is entering the market – with one electric motor on the front axle. Interestingly, the related crossover Volvo XC40 Recharge this version of the Single Motor appeared last fall.
Technically, the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge models are identical. The new front-wheel drive version has a 231 hp engine. and 330 Nm. The capacity of the lithium-ion traction battery is 69 kWh versus 78 kWh for all-wheel drive options. Therefore, the curb weight decreased immediately by 170 kg – up to 2037 kg. At the same time, the passport cruising range decreased slightly – from 415 to 400 km according to the WLTP cycle. And the top speed limiter is set to 160 km/h instead of 180 km/h. The acceleration dynamics sank the most: 7.4 s to “hundreds” versus 4.7 s for the all-wheel drive modification.
Single-engine crossovers Volvo C40 Recharge Single Motor are already available for order in Europe. For example, in Germany, prices start at 48,850 euros versus 57,650 euros for the Twin Motor version. Similar versions of the XC40 model are cheaper by 200 euros.
