A one-year-old boy died following being attacked by a crocodile in Malaysia’s Sabah River. The child was attacked by the crocodile in front of his father as he came to the river to catch fish. All his efforts to save the baby were in vain. Now the authorities have intensified their search to find the crocodile. The crocodile attacked unexpectedly while catching fish. The father saw the crocodile bite the baby and wrestled with it. But despite trying to save the baby at the risk of his life, he might not save the baby from inside the crocodile’s mouth. After a long struggle, the crocodile dived under the water with the baby. It rose to the surface with the baby’s body but disappeared once more.
After the incident was reported, efforts were started to capture the crocodile. Officials from the Sabah Wildlife Department have been searching but have yet to find the crocodile that attacked the baby. The child’s father was seriously injured in the attack. The Fire and Rescue Agency, which participated in the rescue mission, explained that there were bite marks on the body and a deep wound on the head. The baby’s body has not been found yet.
Saltwater crocodiles are abundant in the rivers and coastal areas of Malaysia. They are more aggressive than freshwater crocodiles. They have powerful jaws and 80 teeth. They only attack humans when they feel threatened. But once they lose their fear of humans, they become more aggressive. Experts say the reason for this trend is that humans feed them when they are seen. However, deaths from these attacks are rare. The Saba River is frequented by locals for fishing. The authorities are warning people to be more cautious as the aggressive crocodile has not been caught. It has also been instructed to kill a crocodile if found.
