The Hot Music Minor Baseball School of the Cumaná League won, with a score of 6 runs to 0, against the Astros team of the Marigüitar league, to win the title of champion of the Criollitos de Venezuela pre-junior state championship, in the state of Sucre, which was held at the José Francisco Bermúdez stadium in Carúpano.
The team won the tournament undefeated, with seven straight wins. The performance of right-handed pitcher Samuel Esparragoza stood out, who in 6.2 innings allowed one hit, struck out three and gave up one walk.
César Rivas lost in a 2.1 innings performance, with 4 earned runs allowed, 5 hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
Valuable
On the other hand, Mikel Trujillo was declared the tournament’s most valuable player, leading in home runs, RBIs and runs scored. Esparragoza was the best pitcher.
“It has been a team effort, in which the key was the pitching and now we will represent the state of Sucre. We will go for three reinforcements for the national tournament,” said the manager of the champions, Pedro Marcano.
He took the opportunity to ask the authorities for the greatest possible support so that he can attend the National Criollitos Championship, to be held in Mérida from mid-August.
The Criollitos Organization is preparing to hold the junior state competition, starting on August 10 in La Esmeralda, Ribero municipality.
