The Criminal History of Alain: A Dangerous Pattern of Violence and Threats

2023-12-27 12:02:00

On March 23, Alain (41) was arrested by the police in Saint-Ghislain, while he was arguing during a fight between drunks at a couple’s home. Alain gets angry and makes threats during his transfer to the police station: “I have nothing to lose, I am going to kill one or two people and kill myself followingwards,” he shouts. The threat of attack is taken seriously. At his home, the police found an airsoft weapon.

The police notice that Alain is not unknown to their services. It is already the subject of several files, put aside. For the judicial authorities, this is an opportunity to bring these files out of the closet and make the man face his responsibilities.

Fights

Thus, on November 27, 2018, his dad, with whom Alain lived, declared that the latter had hit him during lunch. The reason for the attack concerned… a piece of meat to share. “My father hit me. I defended myself and he fell to the ground. He has since died, but I took care of him until his death,” Alain told the court.

On September 13, 2020, Alain was surprised by the police fighting in front of a bank in Mons. A few minutes later, the police were called back to the scene because Alain and Joachim were still fighting. Joachim declared that Alain had a knife in his hand, and that he had touched him. “It’s impossible, I was in a cast, leaning on two crutches,” he said. There was blood on Joachim’s shirt.

The public prosecutor notes that Alain was arrested on several occasions in Mons, Flénu and Louvain-la-Neuve in possession of prohibited weapons: switchblade knives, batons, tasers, etc. In addition, he was arrested for theft of bottles of alcohol, on two occasions, from a store in Quaregnon.

No excuses

The deputy of the king’s prosecutor considers that all the suspicions are established and he does not believe Alain’s excuses: no self-defense for the fight with his dad, the taser was not found on the train and he did not not picked up a baton and a shard of glass, in March 2023, to prevent these objects from falling into the hands of a child. A 30-month sentence is required for weapons offenses, and an 8-month prison sentence is requested for thefts. All in a state of recidivism.

Me Céline Parisse says that her client has a long history of being homeless, that he was a drug addict and an alcoholic. So he had a knife to eat with. Since the scene of March 21, he has no longer been talked regarding. “That day, he said he took a weapon to avoid something serious, because a lady was chasing her husband with a sword in her hands.” A probationary reprieve is requested for those who wish to return to sport.

Judgment in January.
