Fans of the previous games are eagerly awaiting from Ubisoft the release of the third part of its racing game series, The Crew Motorfest, following an absence of five years, and during the past few days we have obtained the closed beta version of the game to take a closer look at the development it offers from the previous part, It seems that we are facing a distinguished title that stands face to face with other racing games, especially Forza Horizon 5 and Need For Speed: Unbound, so let us list our impression of the game. The Crew Motorfest Story: No more boring stories! Racing games often fall into the abyss when they add a story to their events. These stories try to approach the thinking of young people who represent the broad segment of the audience of racing games, but they fail as if the one who composes them is from another time entirely. What I mean is that there is a cultural gap between the game makers and its players, just Classic stories regarding a group of reckless young men fighting for an absurd goal that somehow revolves around cars, races or regions with superficial characters and pointless conversation! Fortunately, The Crew Motorfest avoided this mistake in a way that there is no plot at all, so what is the need for unnecessary conflicts and enmities, it is not worth it because it is a racing game following all. The story begins with a group of racers meeting in a huge event that includes various races across the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and this beginning is presented in an interactive way that allows the player to drive in parts of all the races to learn regarding the basics of the game, and the events are also supported by real footage, which increases the engagement of the players With the story, which we haven’t seen since the first parts of Need For Speed! Map: Size isn’t everything! The previous two parts of the series presented a huge recreated map of a few American states gathered together, which justifies the large size of their map compared to the Motorfest part, whose world is located entirely within the island of Oahu, Hawaii, and the game world is not the actual size of the island, but rather a recreated miniature version of The real Oahu Island, which is divided into several regions, the most important of which are Wahiawa, Kinohe, and Honolulu. We don’t know the size of The Crew Motorfest map but it looks bigger than Forza Horizon 5, which is definitely enough. By reducing the size of the map compared to the previous two parts, the Ivory Tower studio was able to make the best use of the game world. The environments are characterized by their great diversity between areas of volcanoes, beaches, mountains, and cities, and they are also full of details regarding roads, buildings, plants, and clouds, which contributed to improving the visual experience radically from the previous two parts. Content: The Crew Motorfest promises to deliver one of the greatest racing gaming experiences! The game offers a wide range of races known as “Playlists”, there will be 15 of these races at the time of launch, but only a few lists were available, the most important of which is the Hawaii Scenic Tour, which offers an exploratory tour around all the main areas of the island of Oahu and with cars suitable for these environments, making it easier for beginners to immerse themselves in the game world and experience all vehicle classes. There are other races that require certain types of cars to perform, including Made in Japan with Japanese-made cars – for the first time in the series – in a night atmosphere that simulates Japanese popular culture, Off-Roading Addict with four-wheel drive cars in rough terrain, and Vintage Garage with classic cars in an atmosphere Vintage “Retro”, and Electric Odyssey with electric cars, and finally Motorsports with Formula 1 cars. There are other races that narrate the achievements of major global car manufacturers, of which we have seen only two races; Automobile Lamborghini, which takes players on a historical tour of the most famous Italian car company, and A Porsche Story: 911 Legacy, which highlights memorable versions of the German giant’s cars. Progress within these races unlocks the Main Stage event that will allow players to look at each other’s cars, ride in them and test the power of the engine, and it also offers a set of challenges that change monthly, which means continuous support for the game all the time, which is definitely a great thing. The Crew Motorfest offers unique gameplay not seen in any racing game other than The Crew 2, where you can race with three types of vehicles and switch between them; Car or motorcycle, racing boat and plane, but we advise you to disable the automatic flight assistant, and all this with the press of a button and completely smooth, although it is not realistic, but it offers unparalleled fun! In terms of gameplay, there is a yellow bar that guides the player to the racing track next to the track drawn in the mini-map, so that the bumpers drawn by default – which are known in some racing games – are used only in certain areas, and there is a GPS system with a voice assistant similar to the ones in Forza games. For racing accidents such as falling into water or car overturning, there is a system to go back in time for a few seconds to go back to any point preceding the accident, and it can be used at any time as well, and it is more realistic than the system of returning the car to the track automatically, as we see from Need For Speed games, for example! Like any major racing game, there is a professional car modification system, where almost everything can be modified, starting from the paint color, passing through parts of the car’s body, and ending with important mechanical parts such as the engine and the “suspension” system, which is inspired by the Need For Speed games, But the game bypasses it by supporting the modification of 800 pieces when it is officially launched! The game provides a huge number of cars, which reached 567 in the closed beta version, and the number will exceed 600 when the game is officially launched. It is not a huge number, but it is sufficient. What is remarkable is that among these cars 80 are completely new cars, some of which have not been launched in fact in the first place, and this is a feature that Forza Horizon games have lacked since the fourth part. Ubisoft knows that this game requires a lot of effort in what is known as “Grind”, so it announced the Collection Import feature so that The Crew 2 players can bring their cars from the sequel, which other racing game publishers did not dare to do! As with any racing game, there is a multiplayer mode “Online”, which is divided into a few stages, of which only two were available in the trial version; Grand Race As it appears from the name, it is just a regular race with a large number of contestants, which amounts to 28 contestants, and Demolition Royale, which also appears from its name to be a car destruction race, and it includes up to 32 players divided into “Crews” teams, and each team tries to Destroy all other teams so that the only surviving team wins. Technical Performance: A bland experience that needs a little more polish! We have not seen any trace of “Ray Tracing” or “Upscaling” technologies such as Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, which is strange, but we believe that the game will support some of these technologies when it is officially launched. There are only two anti-aliasing technologies, TXX and FXAA. There is no DLAA technology, since DLSS technology does not exist. Frame rate can be controlled by two techniques; V-Sync to synchronize game frames with the screen’s refresh rate, and Frame Lock to set the frame rate to a fixed number. The game offers outstanding and realistic graphics performance enough for a racing game, with a significant difference compared to The Crew 2, thanks to the small size of the map that enabled developers to focus on refining the game’s graphics. The game supports good physics for vehicles, which may not be better than Forza Horizon 5 and Need For Speed: Unbound, and although the experience was nice, the cars were relatively heavy, which affected their speeds, and we hope that they will be improved a little. The AI racers are not easy, with great skills on the roads that discourages beginner players and reduces their chance of winning, while the unracing street cars are disorganized and don’t respect traffic rules at all! There are problems with the internet connection in the multiplayer mode that significantly reduces the smoothness of the experience, so these problems must be fixed in order for the scenario of Forza Horizon 5 not to be repeated at launch. In conclusion: The Crew Motorfest offers a nice experience that combines the most important advantages of both Forza Horizon 5 and Need For Speed: Unbound, and tries to deviate as much as possible from their flaws, and although it strays a little from being truly The Crew, it still carries the DNA of the series , especially its predecessor, The Crew 2, to the extent that it can be said that it is just a giant “DLC” for the previous part! In general, The Crew Motorfest has not revealed all its cards yet, and all the aforementioned technical problems may be resolved, and who knows what Ubisoft has in store and intends to reveal to us when the game is released on September 14, so stay tuned for our review of the game as soon as it is officially released, and do not forget to follow all that is new in The world of games through our website and our accounts on social networking sites.
