The Crecer Sonriendo program promotes oral health in schools

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Health reports that the program “Crecer Sonriendo” (Growing Smiling), of the Oral Health Department, is implemented in the educational institution N° 808 “Dr. Bernardo Ocampos”, in the city of Lambaré, where it is expected to reach children who attend the institution, from the initial level to the 6th grade in the morning shift.

It is promoted through dentists who work in Family Health Units, with the noble mission of promoting and encouraging the acquisition of hygienic habits and healthy eating in schoolchildren, as well as promoting non-cariogenic eating and proper tooth brushing.

This program consists of planning promotion and prevention measures, according to the risk factors of the school-age patient.

The intervention aims to maintain oral health, early diagnosis and timely referral to the USF, which is located near the educational institution, or other healthcare centers.

It is run by dentist Javier Giménez Fernández, who works under the Primary Health Care strategy at the USF “Santa Rosa” in the aforementioned city.

The Primary Health Care strategy, combined with the “Crecer Sonriendo” program, includes activities such as educational talks on dental caries and oral diseases, snacks and healthy eating, self-prophylaxis (correct brushing method) and oral inspection for the timely treatment of oral diseases.

This work contributes significantly to healthy smiles, through the strategy and its timely application, at the time of forming habits and behaviors of school-aged children.
