The infamous New World MMO from Amazon, which was supposed to be a “Warcraft killer”, but in the end experienced a monstrous drop in online just a month following launch, decided to start all over once more. Therefore, the developers decided to roll out new servers on November 2nd.
How reported the creators of the game, they received a lot of requests from players to open new servers, so they created certain rules. So, coins, loot and heroes cannot be transferred to new worlds. Gamers are waiting for a completely clean slate with an updated initial experience.
To coincide with this event, the developers have also prepared an update that comes out today and adds an ancient Egyptian-style zone to the game, as well as a new expedition, weapons, and the “updated starting experience” mentioned above, which will more closely connect the new player experience with the central storyline.
Completely new servers with the ability to start over are not a new concept, but they are more commonly seen in older games. New World can hardly be attributed to them, since literally twenty days ago the game was only a year old. And this year did not become smooth for the project, as the players constantly struggled with technical problems, scammersbugs with the economy and the feeling that the game came out in completely raw.
The launch of new servers just a year following the release can be seen as another indicator of the initial failure at the start. However, this decision is welcomed by players as it allows newcomers to avoid major bugs or glitches and also reduces the huge influx of players in the main game worlds.
However, the players in subreddit emphasize that developers should definitely fix major bugs before launching new servers in order to provide newcomers with a good experience. The creators of New World now have only one chance to bring back old players, and if they fail, it will mean the end of the project.
