Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, one of the best-selling Japanese comic books of all time, has died at the age of sixty-eight. News of Toriyama’s death was announced on the official Dragon Ball Z account on X early Friday. According to the statement, Torijama’s death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

In the statement, it was described that Torijama was still creating with great enthusiasm, and due to his unexpected death, several of his works remained unfinished. The artist died on March 1, and according to a statement on Dragon Ball’s website, only his family and very few friends attended his funeral.
The Dragon Ball series was published in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine from 1984 to 1995. It was later reprinted in a book series comprising 42 volumes. In 2004, the manga was republished in 34 volumes.
