Discover the main lines of the program for this 2024 edition of the incredible Expo, which will be held from August 26 to December 20.

After having “Dare to dream hard” during the previous edition, it is regarding “Taking the temperature” in 2024 with a new theme. While everything is getting hotter (the planet, societal relations, the state of the cultural sector, etc.), it is time for action. Environmental issues, living together and creativity are at the heart of the programming of the Expo de ouf in Nîmes.

Official presentation of the Expo de ouf program, Tuesday July 16 at the Spot.

New ambitions for the crazy Expo

The Expo de ouf has gained ground! From an evening with an improvised feel, it has become a real festival in just over 10 years. The event, which marks the cultural return to school for the people of Nîmes, is definitely an unmissable event with more than 180 frescoes created in the space of 12 years in the Gambetta and Richelieu districts. An open-air exhibition, visible all year round and completely free. But the Expo de ouf is not only that, it is also a collective exhibition at the Spot of more than 200 works by around thirty artists, and a rich program with 27 performance times, concerts, street shows and mediation workshops.

Beyond the development of art and culture, the Expo de ouf also tackles environmental issues by proposing an eco-responsible charter. The idea is to limit the environmental impact of the event (reasonable transport, better waste management, etc.) and to raise public awareness of this issue, as Laurent Kilani, artistic director of the Expo de ouf, explains: “We want to use culture to raise awareness. This involves discussions, meetings, workshops with the public and artists.”

This is why fewer spray paints are being used this year, in favor of less polluting rollers, and why a work will be entirely made in reverse-graffiti or clean tag (clean creation technique, which consists of removing dirt to create a work on a wall). And since we are talking regarding recycling, the Nîmes artists Supocaos and Grumo, are going to bring back into fashion two frescoes that they had made 10 years ago.
