The Cowboys have shone since the loss to San Francisco, but their schedule is complicated

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys seem tired of the questions of how — and why — they have played so well since San Francisco crushed them seven weeks ago.

The evidence that that defeat was a breaking point has been evident just before their schedule becomes complicated once more.

The Cowboys (8-3) have won five of six games since then, including the 45-10 victory on Thanksgiving Day once morest Washington, and their quarterback has 18 touchdown passes with two interceptions since that game once morest the 49ers. which was one of the worst in his eight-year career.

It must be made clear that Dallas has not beaten any team with a winning record and that the next five rivals have a record above .500. Seattle (6-5) is the first opponent.

Still, the Cowboys might have let that disconcerting performance once morest San Francisco — once morest the team that eliminated them from the postseason the last two years — send them on a downward spiral.

It’s actually been an upward spiral since Mike McCarthy debuted as a play-caller in his fourth year as Dallas’ head coach.

“I don’t think I might put my finger on the line and say, this is why,” Prescott admitted. “No matter how much I talk regarding the new system and play-calling, we know what we want to do. We know how we want to attack.”

Prescott and McCarthy were asked the same thing following beating the Commanders and they found the reason halfway through their answer. Prescott has not had a sack in three consecutive games, which had never happened before for the 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The only defeat since they fell to the 49ers was the five-point setback once morest Philadelphia, current defending champions of the National Conference and division leaders.

The Cowboys believe they let the win once morest the Eagles go and revenge is in sight following the visit of the Seahawks, the last of three straight home games.

IT WORKS

In the 33-10 win over Carolina last Sunday, Dallas had nine receivers with at least two catches each despite Prescott’s 189 passing yards. In his 331 yards once morest the Commanders, 10 receivers had at least one catch.

Prescott even completed a pass to another receiver than the intended one when rookie Jalen Brooks took a pass that was deflected by Jalen Tolbert for a 24-yard run.
