The Covid kills an average of twenty people a day in Belgium

Only the number of patients treated in intensive care is decreasing. Between March 19 and 25, 11,052 coronavirus contaminations were diagnosed on average per day, an increase of 11% compared to the previous week. At the same time, some 37,900 tests were carried out on average on a daily basis, with almost a third (31.1%) of positive tests (+ 2.7%).

During the same period, 21 people (+12%) died on average per day from the virus.

Between March 22 and March 28, hospitalizations increased by 20%, reaching an average of 206 new daily admissions. On Monday, 2,855 people who tested positive for Covid-19 (+17%) were in hospital, 170 of whom were being treated in intensive care (-5%).

The reproduction rate, which measures the degree of contagiousness of the virus, is also up, to 1.11. When this indicator is greater than 1, it means that the epidemic tends to accelerate.

Regarding vaccination, 80.1% of the total population received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine and 79.2% received two doses (84.5% in Flanders, 73.6% in Wallonia, 70.8 % in the German-speaking Community and 61.4% in Brussels). Currently, 70.2% of the population has received a third injection in Flanders, 53.5% in Wallonia, 52.6% in the German-speaking Community and 36.9% in Brussels (for an average of 61.6 % in Belgium)
