The Court revoked the authorization of 39 courses in an irregular manner in 18 branches of a private university

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Criminal Division, revoked the precautionary measure of a Court of Accounts that decided to open some 39 courses in 18 branches of the Private University of Guairá, reported the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). As a result of this judicial decision, the aforementioned university must close those courses in the affected branches, according to the explanation of the attorney Marco Aurelio González.

The PGR and the National Council of Higher Education (Cones) requested the suspension of undergraduate and graduate programs that are not accredited, and the closure of branches of the aforementioned university, for not complying with the Cones provisions for their accreditation.

The Attorney General’s Office reported that, given the staunch defense of the interests of the State and of the citizens, a favorable ruling was achieved by the Criminal Chamber of the CSJ, through AI No. 361 of August 12, 2024, which resolved to revoke the judicial decision of the Court of Accounts, arguing that administrative acts cause execution, even if they are not consented to by individuals.
