The Administrative Court of Appeal in Rabat has spoken on the initial ruling issued by the Administrative Court in the same city in favor of a Moroccan citizen in a case related to “complications” of the vaccine against the novel coronavirus produced by the British company “AstraZeneca.”

In this context, the final ruling No. 4385 dated July 24, issued by the Administrative Court of Appeal in Rabat, decided to cancel the appealed ruling and reject the request, while keeping the costs on the plaintiff.

In addition, the final judgment ruled to “join file No. 1054/7206/2024 and file No. 1053/7296/2024 with file No. 1032/7296/2024, include these files in one decision, and accept the appeals therein.”

The ruling to compensate the plaintiff, who suffered from facial and lower limb paralysis due to “vaccine complications”, and whose case was registered in June 2022, ordered the Moroccan state, represented by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, to pay compensation of 250,000 dirhams (25 million centimes) to the plaintiff, while bearing the legal expenses of the case in question.

This ruling was a first of its kind in Morocco, amidst great controversy worldwide, after the vaccine manufacturer announced its withdrawal from global markets due to what it considered “commercial reasons.”

In contrast, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection denied the existence of any fatal side effects of the Corona vaccines approved in Morocco, while
The government confirmed, through its official spokesperson, that these “vaccines are not used until they have been approved by the scientific committees specializing in this matter.”
