The country’s airports reopened today

Airports in Iran reopened today after air traffic was suspended due to the Iranian attack on Israel overnight, state media reported.

“Flights at Imam Khomeini International Airport Tehran were restored” from 06:00 local time (05:30 Greek time), the official Irna news agency reported.

The situation was also normalized at Tehran’s Mehrabad airports and those of the cities of Tabriz, Mashhad and Shiraz, according to the same source.

The Iran suspended air traffic as a precaution after launching an unprecedented attack with drones and missiles against it Israel on the night of Saturday into Sunday in response to the attack attributed to Israel against the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.

According to protothema, before the attack, some airlines, such as Germany’s Lufthansa, had suspended flights to Iran, while others had decided to no longer fly over the country.

Other Middle Eastern countries — including Israel, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan — also closed their airspace overnight Saturday into Sunday, before reopening it yesterday.
