The country is “boiling” after August 15: The mercury is in the “red” in most areas

In the wake of the fiery “blaze” that swept through Attica and left behind more than 100,000 burnt acres, fears of another similar phenomenon remain, with meteorologists warning of a further increase in temperature.

In his post, Sakis Arnautoglou presented the data on the temperatures that are expected to reach maximum levels until August 21.

According to the meteorologist, in the southern mainland, such as in Attica and Crete, the mercury is expected to reach 39-40 degrees Celsius, while in the more mountainous and coastal island areas, the mercury will reach 33-34 degrees Celsius.

The general prognosis of EMY

Generally, the weather will be clear on Thursday (15/8). In the midday and afternoon hours, temporary clouds will develop in the western and northern continental regions and it is possible that local showers or isolated storms will occur in the mountains of Macedonia.

The temperature will not change appreciably and will reach continental 37 to 38 degrees and locally in the west, central and north 39 to 40 and possibly in the western Continent 41 degrees Celsius. In the island country it will reach 33 to 34 degrees and in places on the Ionian islands, the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: Generally clear. Clouds will develop during the midday and afternoon hours and localized showers or isolated thunderstorms are possible in the mountains.
Winds: Variable 3 to 4, in the east northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 22 to 37 to 38 and locally in central Macedonia up to 39 degrees Celsius.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS

Weather: Generally clear. Local clouds in the midday and afternoon hours in the continental highlands.
Winds: Northeast 3 to 4, from noon will turn to Northwest 4 to 5 and locally to the Ionian in the afternoon to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 24 to 38 and in the mainland to 39 to 40 and locally in the Western Continent 41 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus the minimum 2 to 3 degrees lower.

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS

Weather: Generally clear.
Winds: From north directions 3 to 5 and to the east 6 and locally in southern Evia 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 25 to 38, locally up to 39 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Clear.
Winds: Northwest 5 to 6 and locally in the Cyclades 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 24 to 32 and in southern Crete up to 34 to 35 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE

Weather: Clear.
Winds: In the Dodecanese north northwest 4 to 5 and from noon locally 6 Beaufort. In the islands of the eastern Aegean, north-northeasterlies 5 to 6 and temporarily in the midday and afternoon hours locally 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 25 to 36 to 38 and locally 39 degrees Celsius.

THESSALY

Weather: Generally clear.
Winds: North northeast 3 to 4 and in the Sporades locally 5 to 6 Beaufort with gradual weakening from the afternoon.
Temperature: From 25 to 39 to 40 and in the Sporades up to 31 degrees Celsius.

ATTICA

Weather: Clear.
Winds: From north directions 3 to 5, to the east 5 to 6 and until the afternoon locally 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 27 to 38 degrees Celsius. In the east the maximum 2 to 3 degrees lower.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: Generally clear.
Winds: From south directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 24 to 37 degrees Celsius.

FORECAST FOR FRIDAY 16-08-2024

Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, temporary clouds will develop in the continental areas and local showers and isolated storms will occur in the central and northern highlands.
Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 and in the Aegean 6 to 7 and possibly locally 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly in the northeast. It will reach the northern mainland, the Ionian Islands, the Dodecanese and southern Crete 36 to 38 degrees, the rest of the mainland 38 to 39 and locally in the west and central 40 to 41 degrees and the rest of the island country 33 to 34 degrees.

FORECAST FOR SATURDAY 17-08-2024

Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, temporary clouds will develop in the continental areas and there will be local showers and isolated storms mainly in the mountains.
Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 and in the Aegean 6 to 7 Beaufort with weakening in the evening.
The temperature will not change significantly and will reach continental 36 to 38 degrees and locally 39 to 40 degrees, in the Dodecanese, the Ionian Islands and southern Crete 36 to 37 and in the rest of the island country 33 degrees Celsius.

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY 18-08-2024

Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, temporary clouds will develop in the continental areas and there will be local showers and isolated storms mainly in the mountains.
Winds will blow in the west variable 3 to 4 and temporary in the midday hours from north directions with the same intensity, in the east from north directions 3 to 4 and in the Aegean up to 6 Beaufort with gradual weakening from the afternoon.
The temperature will drop slightly.

FORECAST FOR MONDAY 19-08-2024

From the morning hours in the Ionian, clouds that will quickly increase and from midday there will be local rains and sporadic storms mainly in the northern parts with improvement from the evening. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather and only in the midday and afternoon hours in the mainland, temporary clouds will develop and local rain and isolated storms will occur mainly in the mountains. Winds will blow in the west from south directions 3 to 4 and locally in the Ionian 5, in the east from north directions 3 to 4 and in the Aegean up to 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will see a slight further drop.
