The Council of Ministers approves a draft decree for the exploitation of the black soil mine

The Council of Ministers met today, Wednesday (April 12, 2023), under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Republic.

The Council studied and approved the following draft decrees:

– Draft decree compiling the granting of two exploitation licenses No. 2840 C2 and No. 2841C2 for group 2 materials (black soil) in the regions of South Tekmatin and Tekmatin in the province of Ataraza in favor of the Haitian Mining Mauritani sa company, in accordance with the arrangements for Decree No. 2023-048 of February 15, 2023, related to mineral concessions and quarries, The current draft decree allows two exploitation licenses No. 2840 C2 and No. 2841C2 for group 2 materials (black soil) for a period of thirty years for the benefit of the Haitian Mining Mauritani sa

This company plans to develop its mine on the basis of:

‐ The reserves that have been shown, at the level of the two declarations, are approximately four hundred and eleven million (411,000,000) tons of ilmenite sands;

‐ Annual production, on average, of one hundred and forty thousand five hundred (140,500) tons of ilmenite concentrates for regarding 21 years;

‐ The creation of approximately 630 direct job opportunities at the level of the two licenses.

A draft decree that includes the appointment of members of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Water Resources.

The Minister of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad gave an agency statement on the international situation.

The Minister of Interior and Decentralization gave a statement on the situation at home.
