Al-Jadeed’s correspondent, Rawand Boudhargem, reported that the meeting that brought together the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, and the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, was held at the house of the father-in-law of Walid Jumblatt’s daughter, Pierre Al-Daher.
Boudargham pointed out that Basil and Jumblatt discussed the economic situation, in addition to the presidential priorities paper that Basil holds, while the two parties did not discuss the names proposed for the presidency.
The two parties agreed, according to Boudargham, that communication between them would continue even if no agreement was reached on a name for the president of the republic.
Boudraghem indicated that Jumblatt had contacted the Chief of Staff, Amin Al-Aram, and informed him that he had done everything necessary to postpone his dismissal in order to prevent the occurrence of a vacuum in the military corps, but that “the situation is not good,” while the file was not raised during the meeting with Bassil today.
