The correct way to brush your teeth – what happens when you brush them vigorously?

Some people become accustomed to vigorous brushing and toothpaste, thinking that brushing them this way will make them cleaner, brighter, and help whiten them.

The dangers of brushing teeth vigorously

When brushing teeth vigorously, a person becomes more susceptible to certain risks, including:

Tooth sensitivity.

Erosion of tooth enamel.

Receding gums.

Yellowing of the teeth.

Weak teeth and easy to break.

Correct way to brush teeth

The American Dental Association recommended dental cleaning in the following guidelines:

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to protect the gums from infection, wounds and bleeding when brushing.

Replace your toothbrush every 3 or 4 months, or sooner if the bristles are worn out.

Rely on a toothbrush that fits in with the teeth and their shape, for easy and effective cleaning.

Place the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gums.

Gently move the brush back and forth.

Cleaning the outer and inner surfaces of the teeth.

Move the brush up and down to clean the front, upper and lower teeth.

Brushing your teeth twice a day, for two minutes each time, to prevent plaque, such as plaque and tartar, from accumulating on their outer surface.

Use a fluoride-rich toothpaste.

Oral health tips

– Cleaning the tongue with the brush designated for that, to preserve the smell of the mouth and remove the bacteria accumulated on its tongue.

– Not only brushing the teeth and toothpaste, but also take into account the use of medical floss, to get rid of food residues.

Limit sugary foods and drinks.

– Eat a healthy diet.

Drink plenty of water to keep the mouth hydrated.

Examination of the teeth and gums in a doctor’s office once or twice a year, for early detection and treatment of diseases quickly.
